Cookies and storage

The basics

When you first arrive, a prompt asks about optional tags. Nothing optional is requested from any outside server until you say yes. Your answer is kept in your browser and the prompt returns after about six months.

What is used

Your choice

hf_prefs in your browser’s local storage. Essential: it remembers what you picked. It lasts about six months, or until you clear your browser.

Visit statistics

Anonymous page-view counts (Google Analytics 4). Optional: set only if you opt in and the tool is switched on. Duration is set by Google for its analytics cookies.

Advertising measurement

A tag that lets the ad network that sent you here count the visit. Optional: set only if you opt in and the tag is switched on. Duration is set by that provider, so see its policy.

Fonts are served by Bunny Fonts, a European font service that does not set cookies. If a page links to another site, that site may set its own cookies.

Changing your choice

Use Cookie settings at any time to accept, decline or pick individual items. Declining or withdrawing never stops you reading the site. You can also delete stored items in your browser settings.
